GynOncEZ

Welcome to the site!

It is hard to learn Gynecologic Oncology. No doubt about it, there's so much to expertise to gain... but doesn't it feel unnecessarily hard sometimes? My purpose in creating this site is to flatten this unnecessarily steep learning curve; I'd like others to be able to learn this amazing field more efficiently than I've been able to.

My vision for this site includes:

  • A clinical trial finder. I'm not aware of a single central place on the internet where you can type in a cancer site, stage, histology +/- other features and get a list of trials that included those patients. Similarly, it would be great to be able to type in a chemotherapy or targeted agent and see which published trials studied them.

  • Topic summaries that are hard to find out there in the wild.

    • Clinical trial summaries. I know these exist out there in some other places, but they are limited in number and sometimes don't pull out the information or put it in enough context to make sense of it.

    • Historical context of how current treatment paradigms developed. It's so hard to read a trial and know how it fits in to the bigger picture.

    • Staging system changes -- I can't tell you how many times I have googled prior staging systems, but they're honestly hard to track down.

    • Anatomy guides -- all the relevant anatomy, all in one place and from a GynOnc perspective.

  • Resource lists. Everything becomes easier when you know what tools are out there. Get a jumpstart on knowing where else you can turn besides UpToDate and Google. There are some awesome reviews, videos, trial summaries, symptom management guides, and more out there.

  • Blog. Personal reflections on life in medicine, applying to & training in OB/GYN and GynOnc, staying balanced, and keeping your chin up in a career that many think would be depressing.
